A short loop with a long memory. We leave Florence in the early afternoon, ride into the hills west of the city and aim for the iconic silhouette of San Gimignano — the medieval Manhattan, fifteen towers still standing.
Designed as the perfect first ride or afternoon escape. Back in Florence in time for dinner.
A suggested route. Every itinerary can be adapted to your pace, your appetite and the weather of the day.
Briefing and coffee at our base. Engines on by 2:00 PM.
An easy warm-up along a road that climbs gently into the hills of the Valdelsa.
A short stop in the upper village of Certaldo — home of Boccaccio. We park outside the walls and ride the funicolare up for a quick walk.
Arrival at the towers. We park near Porta San Giovanni and explore Piazza della Cisterna, the duomo and the cellars of a local producer for a tasting of Vernaccia di San Gimignano.
We return via a different route — the white roads east of Poggibonsi, with a brief panorama stop above the Elsa valley.
Back at base before dinner.
